Open Drive Retest
LiveWaits for the opening range break, then enters on the first pullback into the price gap the break leaves behind.
The rules, in plain words
- Uses the same 15-minute New York opening range as Open Drive.
- Needs a 5-minute candle close outside the range first.
- Places a limit order at the edge of the price gap (fair value gap) the breakout leaves.
- Stop goes under the candle that made the gap, widened to at least 15 points.
- Fixed 2 to 1 target. At most 2 trades a day.
- A trend check on the 200-period average is used when price is near it.
What we changed, and why.
We keep tuning Open Drive Retest. Every change is dated, newest first.
Two baseline versions: the 5-minute gap the break leaves, and a 1-minute gap inside the opening range. New York only, no new entries after 12:00 PM ET.
WhyThe teaching source and the owner's own version differ. The rule is to test both and let the results decide.
Round 1 independent backtest finished. Kept for round 2.
WhyRoughly flat as written. A 1-hour trend check improved it on years the tuning never saw. It is very sensitive to how fills and costs are charged, so round 2 re-tests it carefully.
Rebuilt as its own standalone strategy file with the shared LT/9 settings layout and risk engine.
WhySo every strategy can be tested on its own and run as a separate process, with the same risk controls and the same settings panel everywhere.
Every live strategy, on unlimited prop firm accounts.
